Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in our programming. If you would like an author to be considered for an Authors at Harbourfront Centre event, the procedure is as follows:

The programming team, headed by Director Geoffrey E. Taylor, reviews materials and makes programming decisions for all Authors at Harbourfront Centre events: the weekly reading series, International Festival of Authors; YoungIFOA; ALOUD: a Celebration for Young Readers; and our other special events.

Please submit the following review materials:

an author biography and/or catalogue details for the title to be considered;

a galley, ARC or finished copy (whichever is available for review) of the author's upcoming/new work; and

information about the availability of the author in Toronto (Does the author live in Toronto? If not, are you planning to tour the author here on a certain date?).

If you are an author and would like to be considered for an Authors at Harbourfront Centre event, please ask your publisher or publicist to submit your review materials as outlined above. Our general policy is to book authors through their publisher.

If Authors at Harbourfront Centre would like to invite an author to participate in its programming, an invitation (including proposed date and time, etc.) will be sent to the author care of the person who submitted the review materials.

With very few exceptions, authors who read at Authors at Harbourfront Centre are promoting new books. There are no specific deadlines for submission; however, our lead times are long and we strive to book our events as far in advance as possible. For this reason, review materials should be submitted as early in the pre-publication process as possible. Please do not send manuscripts as email attachments. Also, due to the high number of submissions we receive, we regret that we are unable to return the review materials.
