Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden and The Hon. James K. Bartleman, headline a panel comprised of Canadian and Swedish authors and advocates of children’s literacy to exchange ideas about children and books and reading, and discuss the successes and challenges of literacy work.

The Lieutenant Governor served most recently as Canadian Ambassador to the European Union and he was previously High Commissioner to South Africa and Australia, and Ambassador to Cuba, Israel, and NATO, as well as Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Craig Kielburger is an accomplished child rights advocate and leadership specialist, an award-winning author and a popular speaker. He is the founder of Free The Children, the world's largest network of children helping children through education, and the co-founder of Leaders Today, a world renowned youth leadership training organization.
Maria Lundin is a Swedish-to-English book translator whose work includes young adult fiction, picture books, and non-fiction titles.
Val Ross is an arts reporter for The Globe and Mail and holds a National Newspaper Award. Ross presents You Can’t Read This: Forbidden Books, Lost Writing, Mistranslations, and Codes. A history of reading, the book explores the development of alphabets, the decoding of ancient languages, secret writing, and censorship, among many other topics.
Carin Wirsén is a children's writer and illustrator who frequently collaborates with her daughter, Stina. Her most recent book in English translation
