Jill Battson
Jill Battson is an internationally published poet and poetry activist. She has been widely featured in literary journals and anthologies in North America and the UK, and has performed her work around the globe. Her first book, Hard Candy, was nominated for the Gerald Lampert Award. She has also written several plays and solo works and has collaborated with composer Andrew Staniland on two choral works on the subject of AIDS. Battson’s Dark Star Requiem, a limited edition collection of poems drawn from one of her collaborations with Staniland, focuses on her experiences in caring for friends afflicted with AIDS and her first-hand observations of the toll the disease has taken in sub-Saharan Africa.
