Emma Donoghue (Canada/Ireland) is an award-winning author of the internationally acclaimed and bestselling historical drama Slammerkin, three books of short stories, two works of literary history, two anthologies, and two plays. Her latest novel, Room – recently longlisted for the 2010 Man Booker Prize – is about a mother and son who live in a locked room measuring 11 foot by 11 and what transpires when the child turns five and is told there is a world beyond.
