Dervla Murphy

Dervla Murphy was born in 1931 in County Waterford, Ireland. Since 1964 she has regularly published descriptions of her journeys – by bicycle and on foot. She has also written about the troubles in Northern Ireland, the hazards of nuclear power, and race relations in Britain. Her recent publications include Through the Embers of Chaos: Balkan Journeys and Through Siberia by Accident. Murphy presents her latest work, Silverland: a Winter Journey beyond the Urals, about her intrepid midwinter journey from Moscow to the Russian Far East.
